What to Wear for an Interview

Hey ladies! Brace yourselves: today I'm addressing something dreaded, something scary, something that could be the potential game-changer in your life - the interview. *Gasp!* I can't believe I just wrote that. For occasions such as this, it is absolutely imperative that you look your best. You need to look strong, in control, and ready to embrace the encounter. As I've said many times, an outfit can change how you feel as soon as you put it on... are you ready?

I know you're shocked, but I actually made a video this time! Yaaaaaay! I'm going to elaborate on a few of the basics for interview attire, and the video will have the rest!

The Basics:
  • IRON YOUR CLOTHES. It is THE MOST important factor in determining polished vs. frumpy. If my assumption is correct, you'll want to look polished for an interview.
  • Pull your hair back. Whether it's half-up/half-down, a bun, French twist, etc., make sure your hair is out of your face; it sends the message that you're ready to work. That does NOT mean to just throw your hair back in a ponytail. You want to appear as though you put forth a lot of effort to look presentable.
  • Blazers are great! If you are really wanting to feel powerful, go with a blazer. They can change a mood in a heartbeat.
  • Trousers are fine, but no jeans (even if they are a super dark-wash).
  • Skirts are what I instinctively grab when I want to look professional. My only suggestion would be to make sure they are of an appropriate length.
  • I did not address this in the video, but please have clean nails! For a really nice look, I'd advise a French Manicure, but otherwise go clear or stick with the reds and pinks. Also, chipped nails are a no-no.
